Biography

Flutist Petra Lantschner, born in Völs am Schlern (South Tyrol) in 1999, studied flute and instrumental pedagogy in Innsbruck from 2019-2023 under Prof. Michael Cede and completed both bachelor programs with distinction. Since the fall of 2023, she has continued her study of the flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Wally Hase. She has also augmented her studies at home and abroad at master classes with, among others, Paolo Taballione, Felix Renggli, Christina Fassbender and Andrea Lieberknecht.

As a regular substitute with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck, Petra Lantschner has collected much valuable experience in concert and opera. She has also performed with diverse professional ensembles such as Windkraft – Kapelle für zeitgenössische Musik and the Gustav Mahler Academy, making appearances at the Vienna Festival Weeks and the Klangspuren Schwaz, as well as at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl as a soloist and chamber musician.

After winning numerous first prizes at Austrian young peoples' competitions, Petra Lantschner was awarded the instrumentalists prize at the international Tiroler Klassik competition in 2021 and the sole first prize in the "Professionals" category of the International Competition of the German Flute Society in 2022.
